10,000 words on novel, writing this naked, press updates, Mike Kelly of Dropkick Murphys answers to unknown Yankee P. H. Madore…

I am naked right now.

Since I got home I’ve been glued to my computer screen. Have been a bit excited, suddenly, after a shitty night guarding nothing at all. About things. Like:

orange alert pressYes, yes, of course I was suckered in by their promotion. Appears I can add another small press signed edition to my collection. Which is growing. Which reminds me about Mike Boyle’s Dollhouse, how he said he’d sign it. I’ll put the TJ Press link at the end just for the hell of it, because they are the best there is. I think that will be my 13th. I figure if the writers ever make it to the “big time,” then I’ll have something really valuable. Also, importantly, they’ve got this interview with the lovely Jac Jemc.

This was my figuring when I once released a hardcover, strictly signed, strictly limited poetry book by John Sweet. It sold better than any other project I ever produced for sale, and was actually beautiful. Here are pictures of it:

ash wilderness, coverash wilderness introduction by henry chaliseash wilderness ltd. ed. w/ john sweet sig--sweet, right? yeah, you don't have that.

Next up, it is clear that I am a sucker for good logos. These people actually gave me some of their stuff on condition that I review it here. And so I will. They are PAPER HERO PRESS, and they rock much literary-ass. Things I’ve learned are that a good logo can sell a bad product. A good logo usually means a good product, though: look at Mac. Windows hasn’t got a very good logo, and look how crappy it is. Anyway, click the image below. Support them.

So yeah, I’ve been busy as always. Last night, on CQ, which means chief of quarters, I belted out 6,000 more words on my novel. Maybe they aren’t all the best, but I met my goal, and that’s what is important.

This just in, from G. Smith in Oklahoma:

So I went there, and this is what I found, an answer from Matt Kelly himself, to little old P. H. Madore… how kickass… I surely wasn’t trying to insult the man, I love the band, as you can see:

Murphy Love

I like the things I’m seeing going on at ml press. I’m being very sincere, and further sincerity can be found in the following statement: I like what I see in the cutting edges of the underground press scene. OA Press is outstanding, Paper Hero is clearly making its mark, and everything J. A. Tyler touches turns to gold. And so be it, there will be room for me and Mourning Silence when I return. For now, I’ll go out with a bang on that number, and people will be anxious to see me back. Or they’ll just forget, MTV minds and all, and so be that as well. At least I’ll have written a lot, and at least I’ll have a truly fresh perspective on American lit, right? Right. So here is that last logo (also awesome, though of a different style, more East Coast…), as promised:

Feel like I’m probably forgetting things, but I really must get a bit of rest, and then the Army is going to force me to do a bunch of shit I don’t want to do, being that I just gave them not less than 24 hours, and didn’t even sleep like everyone else… like everyone always does…

  1. What is supposed to be going on at CQ?

  2. That is where you go and you answer the phone by saying “HHC ** CAV This Is Me How May I Help You Sir Or Ma’am?” Or you clean up around the place, or do any number of retarded things, but mostly sit and read or whatever you want. Some guys bring in their xbox. This is the fourth time I have had. Guys have gone years without ever getting it, but Madore does it four times in 6 months…

  3. It’s 24 hours of torture, and next day you don’t have to work, unless you do, like I have to pack everything for Iraq. Everything. How fucking stupid.

  4. HHC?! That’s not a line company. Unless your with the scouts. I was once infantry and S3 ruined my exalted military career. Pogue ass HHC for the 11s. Oh, you must be some bodys driver eh? Isn’t that how it comes down from the line unit?

  5. you had me at, “I am naked right now”

  6. No, it’s not a line company… and I’m not with the scouts, I’m in PSD…
